Frequently Asked Questions

Guide to billboard signage FAQ's

  • What size are standard billboards in Australia?

Standard billboard sizes vary, but a common format is 6m wide x 3m high.

  • Can billboards be illuminated?

Yes. Illuminated billboards (using LED floodlights or backlighting, or Reflective vinyl) to enhance the visibility at night.

  • What materials are used for billboard signage?

The most common materials are vinyl banner (PVC), and aluminium composite panels for long-term fixed signage. We’ll recommend the best option based on your location and campaign length.

  • How do I maintain a billboard after installation?

Routine checks for wear, fading, or weather damage are recommended, especially for long-term campaigns. Vinyl skins can be replaced quickly and cheaply as needed. Wolfpack Print offers replacement prints and updates for existing billboard frames.

  • Can I rent small signage instead of a full billboard?

Wolfpack Print doesn’t rent large billboards directly, but we do offer up to a 3000mm x 2440mm wooden framed billboard that has wooden legs and star pickets, this would only be for a short term.

  • How long does it take to create and install a billboard?

Usually 3-4 weeks. But, from concept to completion, a billboard can take up to 6 weeks, depending on its complexity, council approval and installation scope. We do offer priority timelines to help fast-track urgent jobs when needed.

  • How long does billboard signage last?

Most printed vinyl billboards last 1–3 years, depending on material quality. An anti-graffiti liquid laminate can significantly extend their lifespan. UV exposure, weather conditions, and regular maintenance also play a key role in durability.

  • Can I customise billboard shapes and styles?

Yes. In addition to standard rectangular panels, billboards can be customised even with shaped cut-outs, 3D elements, double-sided faces, or extended panels. We build custom billboards tailored to your brand and site.

  • What is the best location for billboard advertising?

The best billboard locations are high-traffic areas such as highways, major intersections, shopping precincts, and commuter routes. Visibility, dwell time, and relevance to your audience are key factors.

  • Do I need council approval to install a billboard?

Depends on location and size. Local councils (like Fraser Coast Regional Council) require planning permission for permanent signage over a certain height. Our signage experts can guide you through the process.

  • Can I advertise on a billboard I build on my own land?

Yes — provided you have the necessary council approvals. Many businesses install billboards on their own commercial properties to promote their services. We help with design, printing, and full construction.

  • Is billboard advertising still effective?

Absolutely. Billboards offer high visibility, 24/7 exposure, and strong brand recall. They’re particularly effective for local promotions, events, real estate, and businesses wanting to stand out in their region.
